The Four Loves
Heard this quote last night during the Requiem Eucharist I attended last night for people who have died in the past year. My Fiance’s family lost a very special member this year; Her Memere. She was someone who was quite small and simple but she lacked nothing, as she was full of Love. During her last few days she had an amazingly clear message for us: Love. Tell those that you love that you love them when you see them. This is never done nearly as much as it should be. The following except was appropriately read during the Requiem.
The Four Loves (1960)
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket — safe, dark, motionless, airless — it will change. It will not be broken; it will becomeunbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. Thealternative to tragedy, or at least to the risk of tragedy, is damnation. The only place outside of Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell.

The Week Of No Spending Results.
So, I completed the week of no spending last week successfully. I was able to only spend $22 for my lunch all week and that was it. There were plenty of times when I was close to buying new things or going out for food, but I realized that it was unnecessary and passed. After comparing to the week before, I saved $120!! Granted what I bought the week before wasn’t all for my lunch or what have you, it was frivolous non-essential spending. So, I have taken that money and will be using it to sponsor a child through world vision. They are one of the highest rated charities in the world in the world. I think that it is a good use of my extra money, to make the most of it and to keep myself in check. To always live with purpose and keep myself in a global mindset. I’m lucky to have the life that I do and everyone does not have that luck. Hopefully this will change the life of a small boy in Malawi through my support of him through World Vision.
